Oregon Historical Society Exhibit with Dr. Mercier
claudia.mickasThe Oregon Historical Society is exhibiting “Building Solidarity for 30 years: Portland Jobs with Justice” through May 15. Laurie Mercier, professor of history at Washington State University Vancouver; and Nikki Mandell, professor of history emerita at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, are co-curators.
Andra Chastain to Present with Global Urban History Project
claudia.mickasDr. Chastain will be presenting on the Cities and Inequalities Dream Conversation Lighting Round virtual panel on Friday, January 27th. The event is free and open to the public. There will be four presenters discussing their research on urban history and inequality with case studies from Chile, Mexico, China, and the Soviet Union.

Award Created in Honor of Dr. Sue Peabody
claudia.mickasExciting News – the French Colonial Historical Society/Société d’histoire coloniale française has created a new award in honor of WSU-Vancouver History Department faculty member Sue Peabody, for her influence on and significance to the field of French Colonial History. The Award is to support the travel of a scholar from the Global South to the society’s annual meeting (which meets at many sites associated with French colonial history, from Montreal,Québec, and New Orleans, to Dakar and Siem Reap, but also places like Seattle or San Francisco).
