Dr. Sue Peabody has been selected as a fellow to the Camargo Foundation residential program in Cassis, France, beginning this fall. She will be working on her sabbatical project, a new book entitled “The Failure of the Succès: Anatomy of a Slave Smuggling Voyage.”

Assistant Professor Andra Chastain recently announced that Itineraries of Expertise: Science, Technology, and the Environment in Latin America’s Long Cold War, is now under contract with the University of Pittsburgh Press, in their Intersections series. Andra is a co-editor, with Timothy Lorek, and has a chapter in the volume as well. Congratulations!
WSU graduate (PhD History spring 2018) Hans-Petter Grav is now employed at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway, as PhD program advisor for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. In addition to his duties, he will teach occasional U.S. history courses for the University of Trondheim.
The department would like to congratulate Dr. Sue Peabody at our Vancouver campus for being named the recipient of a WSU 2018 Arts and Humanities Fellowship after her proposal, Gender and Colonialism Humanities Symposium, was selected for funding!
Dr. Jennifer Schaefer, currently located at WSUV, has been awarded the 2018 RCI Postdoc Research Grant to support work on her book manuscript, “Critical Commemorations: Memorializing Rebels, Martyrs, and Heroes in Argentina, 1966-1983.”
