On Wednesday through Sunday, May 27th-30th, Robert Franklin, Kyley Canion Brewer and Alison Moon (MA, ’25) participated in the Vernacular Architecture Forum (VAF) 2026 “Columbia River Plateau” conference held in Walla Walla, WA. The VAF is focused on a broad interpretation of the built environment and how people use buildings and landscapes and is comprised of professionals and scholars from diverse disciplines who live and work in all parts of the United States and Canada. 193 VAF’ers attended the 2026 conference! Robert, Kyley, and Alison were a significant part of the Friday, May 29th “Atomic Space: Hanford, Richland, and East Pasco” Bus Tour – writing most of the ~200-page guidebook and designing and giving the Alphabet House tour. On Saturday Robert, Kyley, and Allison presented on the Storymapping East Pasco, Washington project and the panel was chaired by Robert Bauman.
