WSU History Alum Brian Stack Featured in The Daily Evergreen

WSU History alum Brian Stack was recently featured in The Daily Evergreen for his work documenting, preserving, and teaching LGBTQ+ history in the Pacific Northwest. Stack, now a History Instructor at Spokane Falls Community College, came to WSU for his graduate studies after encountering the scholarship of WSU historian Peter Boag.

While at WSU, Stack began researching local queer history in university archives, work that contributed to the Palouse LGBTQ History Project. His MA thesis examined Washington State’s sodomy law during the Progressive Era and later contributed to an article in the Journal of the History of Sexuality. The article also highlights Stack’s continued commitment to incorporating LGBTQ+ history into his teaching and preserving local histories that might otherwise be overlooked.
