Marlene Gaynair presented her paper “’Five Flights a Day’: Air Jamaica and the Spread of Post-Colonial Jamaican Identity” today at the semiannual Lees Seminar at Rutgers University – Camden. This chapter from her book examines how Jamaica’s national airline facilitated the formation of a diasporic cosmopolitan identity for Jamaicans and served as a vehicle of foreign control and influence for the Canadian government during the mid to late twentieth century.
