Sue Peabody’s exhibit, “The Surprising Story of Furcy Madeleine,” opens at the University of Virginia’s Shannon Library, with her inaugural keynote address, “Freedom:
Law and Practice in French Imperial Archives,” on September 16. Later in the week, she will join the director and communications liaison of the Musée historique de Villèle (Réunion Island, France), on a personal tour of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture with Smithsonian curator, followed by a meeting of with the Acting Director and Deputy Director of the NMAAHC.
