Hanford Happenings with Robert Franklin

On July 3, 2025 the Hanford History Project hosted a tv crew from Fuji Television to do a program on the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (where Hanford plutonium made up the core of that weapon). Robert Franklin sat down with the program host and did a short interview and showed artifacts and archives from Hanford History Project collections.
On July 6-July 7, Robert Franklin filmed with TV Asahi America on the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings.  This project was longer, incorporating archival research and use of some films, a driving tour, and a longer interview on the impact and importance of Hanford history.
On July 11, Robert Franklin participated in the Hanford Challenge “Nuclear Waste Scholar Series” giving a lecture on US foreign and domestic policy during the Cold War with a short section on Hanford and Richland.
On July 21, Robert Franklin will chaperone WSUTC students visiting Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Fukushima as part of the Hanford-Fukushima STARS Program learning about the culture and history of Japan.  This program is funded by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology.
