WSU Vancouver History alumnus Frank Laolagi (BA 2024), currently enrolled in a master’s program at U. Nebraska Kearney, recently presented his project on the 1973 Evergreen School District Teacher Strike (in SW Washington) at the Pacific Northwest Labor History Association conference. This strike eventually resulted in state legislation permitting teachers to negotiate through collective bargaining. Laolagi’s research developed in Dr. Mercier’s class and was expanded in his 469 seminar. As part of his graduate work, Laolagi “found some really great archival footage from KOIN and Oregon Historical Society” that he digitized and worked into hispresentation
