Dr. Sutton Public Lecture

CAH Public Lecture: Christian Nationalism, the Religious Right, and the 2024 Election
Date/Time: October 8, 6-7pm
Location: Neill Public Library

Matthew Sutton will focus on the history of religion in American politics, with an eye towards the November election. He will focus on Americans’ changing views across time of the religion clauses of the First Amendment, religious activists’ broad and diverse forms of political engagement, and, finally, the rise of the religious right. Today, evangelicals are the largest and most reliable multi-issue interest group in the GOP. Sutton will explain how this group of Christians is influencing contemporary politics.
