Sue Peabody was interviewed about translating the museum exhibit, “L’étrange histoire de Furcy Madeleine, 1786-1856,” about slavery and emancipation in France’s Indian Ocean colonies, for American audiences: “Translating Slavery, Freedom, and Race for French and American Publics,” Imaginaries: Films, Fictions, and Other Representations of French-Speaking Worlds, 14, No. 2 (Summer 2024). The traveling exhibit has opened at U. Arkansas Little Rock, and will move to Duke University and the University of Virginia in 2025.
