Petitioning to be added to a full History 105/305 section

Sections of History 105/305 are often fully enrolled since the course is required for graduation.  If a student who is not enrolled in a particular section asks to be added to a fully enrolled section, then they must follow the procedure outlined below:

  1. The student should place themselves on the waitlist.
  2. Students should email the Roots of Contemporary Issues Director Dr. Ashley Wright to petition for enrollment. Petitions should include:
    • Student Name
    • WSU ID Number
    • Course and Section Number
    • Instructor Name
    • Reason(s) and evidence for request
  3. Once a student’s petition is received, the Director will work with History Department Advisors to verify the student’s circumstances and determine eligibility.  The RCI Director will also email the instructor of the section to determine whether the student has permission to add the course.
  4. The RCI Director will review their petition and notify the student of their decision.
  5. Students should understand that the Roots of Contemporary Issues Program offers multiple sections of History 105/305 both fall and spring semesters.  If a petition is denied, the student should enroll in the course the following semester.
Very Important: Students petitioning to be added to a fully enrolled History 105 or 305 section must demonstrate compelling reasons and evidence for enrollment in that section.
